Listing Guidelines

Last updated: November 2026

The Idaho Veteran Business Directory is a free program of the Veteran Entrepreneur Alliance (VEA). Every listing is reviewed by VEA before it goes live. These guidelines explain who can be listed and what a listing needs so we can approve it quickly.

Who can be listed

To be listed, a business must meet all three of these:

  • It is owned by a veteran, a military spouse, or a transitioning service member.
  • It is based in Idaho. You can serve customers anywhere, but the business must be located in Idaho.
  • The owner is a member of the Veteran Entrepreneur Alliance. Membership is free. Join at https://www.vealliance.org/joinvea

Each member can manage one listing.

What your listing needs

  • Your real business name, as customers know it.
  • A short description: one sentence about what you do and who you serve.
  • A full description that explains your products or services in plain language.
  • The category that best fits your main line of business.
  • Your county and city.
  • At least one way for customers to reach you: a website, phone number, or email.

Be accurate

  • Only list certifications you currently hold, such as VOSB, SDVOSB, HUBZone, or 8(a).
  • Only select the ownership type and military branch that apply to the owner.
  • Keep your phone number, website, and email current. Listings that can't be verified may be returned for changes.

Photos and logos

  • Use images you own or have the right to use.
  • Use clear images that show your business, your work, your products, or your team.
  • No images with offensive content, and no images that are mostly text or advertising.
  • Logos should be your actual business logo.

Content we don't allow

We will request changes to, or decline, listings that include:

  • False or misleading claims about the business, its owner, or its services.
  • Offensive, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
  • Content promoting illegal products or services.
  • Another person's or business's name, logo, or photos used without permission.
  • Pricing tricks, spam, or keyword stuffing.
  • A duplicate of a business that is already listed.

How review works

When you submit your listing, VEA reviews it, usually within a few business days. We will email you when it is approved, or tell you what needs to change. Most change requests are quick fixes, and you can resubmit as soon as you update your listing.

Once your listing is live, you can edit it anytime. If you change your business name or ownership type, VEA will take a quick look, and your listing stays live while we do.

Keeping the directory trustworthy

VEA may edit, unpublish, or remove a listing that no longer meets these guidelines, including a business that has closed or can no longer be reached. Anyone can report a problem with a listing using the "Report an issue" link on its page.
